Project Update – Waterloo
The Quickway utilities team has recently commenced construction work in the Surry Hills area of Sydney.
The project involves over 700 metres of trenching works and conduit installation throughout the streets of Surry Hills as well as the relocation of existing gas and electrical services, the installation of a large precast joint-bay structure, and over 3000 metres of 33kV cable installation.
The complexities on this project includes excavation of deep trenches through challenging ground conditions in restricted work areas – under and adjacent to other significant utilities. The HV cable trench alignment takes route through areas ranging from major intersections to narrow lanes.
Our utilities team has worked very closely with the client and relevant stakeholders during the early planning stages of the project. A plan is in place for a series of weekend road closures to reduce the amount of overnight work required and mitigate the impact of the construction work on road users, public transport and the local community.
